This Is the Mother I’m Becoming

At first, I thought motherhood broke me.

I thought I lost myself.

I thought I lost my freedom.

But the truth is—

I had never truly known who I was.

It took becoming a mother

to make me look at the patterns I had been shaped by—

the beliefs, the silence,

the systems I thought would save me.

And then it asked me to choose something different.

Not just for me,

but for the tiny human looking up at me,

learning what love is by watching how I live.

In many ways,

becoming a mother saved me

from the version of life

that was slowly shrinking me.

I’ll always be grateful to my son for that.

I promise to lead with honesty—

to show him what it looks like

to stand in your truth,

to give and receive love fully,

and to fall in love with who you are

as you become.
